Nikkei Student Union
Nikkei Student Union (NSU) at UC Berkeley is a student organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting Japanese American culture, heritage, and identity. It provides a supportive community through social events, cultural activities, and discussions on issues affecting the Japanese American and broader Asian American communities.
I created a new logo design for the club.

Lo-Fi Sketches
I drew inspiration from these very stylistic Japanese art styles to create a logo that incorporates elements of Japanese culture and art, and also fits for a college culture club. (Sketched in Procreate)
Mid-Fi
The club staff voted on one design to move forward with, and then I vectorized it along with various iterations of different styling choices.
Hi-Fi/Final Design
The final version contains a koinobori, a traditional Japanese carp streamer, 5-tipped flowers, and the name of our club "Berkeley NSU". The name fits under the space of the carp, left-aligned to match the direction of the carp, as well. The flowers are asymmetrically spaced around to add some more dynamics to the overall picture and create harmonious balance.
